Oregon’s Jake Hanson named to Rimington Trophy watch list

EUGENE — Oregon’s Jake Hanson is on the Rimington Trophy watch list.

Hanson is among the 82 centers on the preseason watch list for the award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top center.

A three-year starter, Hanson has appeared in 38 career games with 37 starts and has not allowed a sack in 2,739 snaps during that span.

Hanson was the second-highest graded center in the Pac-12 by Pro Football Focus last season and the top-graded pass-blocking interior lineman in the conference.

An Oregon player has never won the Rimington Trophy, which will be presented at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska on Jan. 13, 2020 after by determining the consensus All-America pick from the Walter Camp Foundation, the Sporting News and the Football Writers Association of America. NC State’s Garrett Bradbury won the Rimington Trophy last season.

Hanson is the fifth Oregon player named to a preseason watch list. Justin Herbert was on watch lists the Maxwell and O’Brien awards, Troy Dye was on the watch lists for the Bednarik award and Lott trophy and CJ Verdell and Travis Dye were each on the Walker award watch list.
