Kelee Ringo, nation’s No. 1 cornerback, hosts Oregon Ducks in-home visit, ready for Georgia official visit

Kelee Ringo

Five-star cornerback Kelee Ringo has an in-home visit with the Oregon Ducks on December 12, 2019.

The Oregon Ducks are set to sign a top-20 recruiting class nationally during the early signing period Wednesday.

But that ranking could rise dramatically in the first week of January, as five-star cornerback Kelee Ringo and four-star prospect Dontae Manning, the nation’s No. 3 cornerback, are set to announce their decisions on nationally televised all-American games.

Ringo, the nation’s No. 1 cornerback, appears to be favoring Georgia and Oregon as he enters the stretch run of his recruitment, and both programs will get a chance to make a major impression this week.

The Ducks coaching staff got the ball rolling Thursday night with an in-home visit with Ringo - hours before he was set to take his official visit to Georgia.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound cornerback, out of Saguaro High School (Scottsdale, Arizona), is rated the nation’s No. 8 prospect nationally and would be the highest-rated defensive back pledge in Oregon football program history.

But Duck fans will have to wait past the early signing period to find out if his future is in Eugene.

Ringo is set to announce his commitment January 4 during the AdIdas All-American Bowl, which will be televised live at 10 a.m. PT on NBC.

Here’s what 247Sports mountain region recruiting analyst Blair Angulo had to say about the dynamic defensive back:

“Long, projectable frame with muscular build. Carries 205 pounds very well. Room to add mass and maintain flexibility. Explosive athlete with terrific straight-line speed. Length to cover big receivers out wide. Highly competitive and thrives in man coverage. Stingy near the line of scrimmage. Opens hips and stays with speedsters. Very good ball skills. Tends to get too physical at times, so will need to harness the aggressiveness. Potential to start at any Power Five program as true freshman. Upside as first-round NFL Draft selection.”
