EUGENE — Left tackle Penei Sewell and safety Brady Breeze lead five Oregon players named all-Pac-12 by the league’s coaches.
Sewell and Breeze were named first-team all-Pac-12, the latter as an all-purpose/special teams player, and running back CJ Verdell, left guard Shane Lemieux and linebacker Troy Dye were named to the second team.
Defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux was named freshman Defensive Player of the Year after posting 24 tackles with 14 for loss including nine sacks, ranking second in the Pac-12 in tackles for loss and third in sacks. He’s the first Duck to earn the honor since the conference started awarding it in 2009.
Quarterback Justin Herbert, center Jake Hanson, right tackle Calvin Throckmorton, nose tackle Jordon Scott, Thibodeaux, corners Thomas Graham Jr., Deommodore Lenoir, safety Jevon Holland and returner Mykael Wright all earned honorable mention.
Utah running back Zack Moss was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year, Cal linebacker Evan Weaver was named Defensive Player of the Year, USC quarterback Kedon Slovis was named freshman Offensive Player of the Year and Utah’s Kyle Whittingham was named Coach of the Year.
