A man is accused of entering a stranger’s home and sexually assaulting her Sunday in Wood Village, deputies say.
Alfredo Guzman, 24, is accused of crimes including first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree burglary, strangulation, coercion and fourth-degree assault. He’s being held in Multnomah County’s Inverness Jail.
The woman reported a stranger, identified by deputies as Guzman, broke into her Northeast Halsey Street home early in the morning and sexually assaulted her, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.
The man left before deputies arrived. Based on a description from the woman, deputies found Guzman outside a nearby apartment complex about three hours later, deputies said. He was taken into custody without incident.
Detectives learned the suspect accessed the woman’s home through an unlocked door and that the woman’s young children were home during the incident.
Guzman, who also appears to be known by the surname Guzman-Padilla, has two open criminal cases in Multnomah County.
He’s accused of misdemeanor public indecency in both cases. One of the cases also includes a resisting arrest charge.
He’s pleaded not guilty in both cases, which stem from 2019.
