Katee Sackhoff earned a loyal fan following as pilot Kara “Starbuck” Thrace in “Battlestar Galactica," the sci-fi drama that aired from 2004 to 2009. The show, an update of an original that premiered in 1978, was such a favorite that “Portlandia” satirized “BSG” addiction with “One Moore Episode,” in which Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein’s characters were so hooked on watching DVDs of the show they couldn’t leave the house.
Since then, Sackhoff, who grew up in St. Helens and the Portland area and graduated from Sunset High School, has kept busy with other projects, including playing Victoria “Vic” Moretti, a deputy in the A&E/Netflix series “Longmire,” a contemporary Western set in Wyoming.
Now, Sackhoff is returning to space in “Another Life,” a new, 10-episode Netflix drama that begins streaming July 25. Sackhoff plays astronaut Niko Breckinridge, who, as the Netflix synopsis says, “is focused on searching for alien intelligence. She leads a crew on a mission to explore the genesis of an alien artifact. As Niko and her young crew investigate, they face unimaginable danger on what might very well be a one-way mission.”
Yikes. The cast also includes Tyler Hoechlin (“Teen Wolf”), Selma Blair (“Hellboy”), Justin Chatwin (“Shameless”), Samuel Anderson (“Loaded”), Elizabeth Frank Ludlow (“The Walking Dead”), and more.
Aaron Martin is the creator and showrunner, as well as an executive producer, with Noreen Halpern, of Halfire Entertainment.
