Portland’s summer concert season is shaping up as a real blast-from-the-past. On deck are concerts by Steely Dan paired with Steve Winwood, the double bill of Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams, Hall and Oates with Squeeze, and the 1970s mega-group Foreigner.
Now we can add 1970s singer-songwriters James Taylor with Jackson Browne to the mix. They’re performing at Portland’s Moda Center at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 25.
Presale tickets will be available at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7. Ticket prices will be $59.50, $79.50 and $125, not including service charges. Tickets will also be available through StubHub.
Taylor is touring in support of his newest album, “American Standard,” which features new interpretations of American songbook classics like “My Blue Heaven,” “Ol’ Man River,” and “Almost Like Being in Love.” It’s Taylor’s 19th studio recording, and his first in five years.
Here’s a sample of Taylor’s twist on “Teach Me Tonight.”
Browne was a 2004 inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2016, he joined members of the Eagles on stage at the Grammy Awards in tribute to the late Glenn Frey. But Brown is far from “Running on Empty.”
