Portland police arrested a 26-year-old man on Friday on charges related to reports of shots fired in several Northeast Portland neighborhoods earlier in the day.

Portland police arrested a 26-year-old man on multiple charges including reckless endangerment after he allegedly fired a gun in three Northeast neighborhoods.

No one was injured, but a bullet did strike a home in the 1000 block of Northeast Alberta Street in the King neighborhood, according to a police news release.

Police responded to the first report of gunshots shortly before 3 p.m. Friday, near Northeast 15th Avenue and Northeast Alberta Street in the Vernon Neighborhood. They did not find any suspects in the area, but they received another report of shots fired near Northeast 29th Avenue and Northeast Alberta Street within minutes.

When officers responded to that location in the Concordia neighborhood, they obtained a description of the suspect, according to police. They located a man who matched the description near Northeast 48th Avenue and Northeast Killingsworth Street.

Malcolm K. Menefee

Malcolm K. Menefee, 26, was arrested Friday for allegedly shooting a gun in the air in several Northeast Portland neighborhoods. One bullet hit a home.

According to the police, Malcolm K. Menefee was compliant when officers contacted him and they recovered a handgun. He was arrested on two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm, one count of reckless endangerment, one count of first-degree criminal mischief and one count of second-degree disorderly conduct. The charges also included violations of city codes prohibiting the possession of a loaded firearm in a public place and discharge of a firearm inside the city. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.
