The rainy front that pushed ashore Thursday night is leaving showers around the metro area Friday morning. Some areas have seen strong showers. A Troutdale reader reports a quarter inch of rain before 5:30 a.m. Rain will continue through about 11 a.m., and then move away leaving a mostly cloudy day with a high of 73.

A weak ridge of high pressure will keep things dry into Saturday. Forecasters with the National Weather Service say this is just a brief break before a strong system arrives from the Gulf of Alaska later in the weekend. Saturday will feature cloudy skies and a high of 74.

The front moving in Saturday night and into Sunday has a strong stream of moisture associated with it.  Forecasters says it could even be considered a weak, or perhaps moderate, atmospheric river. Where the bulk of the rain will fall is still in question, but the north coast zones could see up to .75 inches, interior lowland anywhere from a third to a half inch.

Expect rain all day Sunday with a high of only 64. Chances of precipitation are at 90%. Sunday will be wet for all metro locations. The tail of this system hangs around for Monday too with morning showers, then possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. Fall is coming on strong.
