The talk is all about Ezekiel Elliott when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys during this preseason. The star running won’t be playing when the Cowboys takes on the Houston Texans today (4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET, NFL Network) in a Week 3 preseason game.

Elliott, the Cowboys’ star running back, has been sitting out the preseason while attempting to get a new and more lucrative contract. There have been signs of movement toward an agreement between the two sides, but Elliott probably won’t play at all during the preseason. That’s not a bad thing, he would’ve played sparingly - if at all - during the preseason anyway. The question for Elliott is what kind of shape will he be in if and when he does return.
While we’re on the subject of holdouts, Texans’ defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has been a no-show for training camp and preseason. He hasn’t signed the franchise tag tender. He may sign the tender, but the Texans are reportedly shopping him, knowing that he’ll be an unrestricted free agent following the 2020 season.
