Police arrest husband of Bend woman Lori 'Woody' Blaylock on suspicion of murder

Police in Central Oregon have arrested Steven Paul Blaylock, the 45-year-old husband of a missing Bend woman, on suspicion of murder.

Bend police said Thursday they also now are actively searching for the remains of Lori "Woody" Blaylock, a 48-year-old respiratory therapist.

Detectives believe Blaylock disposed of his wife's body between Marion Forks and Idanha, possibly in the North Santiam River, along Oregon 22, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

He told told police she walked away wearing a black sweater with white stripe on the sleeves, blue jeans and white tennis shoes and carrying a black purse with backpack-style straps. Police now say they believe that Blaylock killed his wife on Wednesday, Oct. 27.

Diedre Moore, a close friend of Lori Blaylock's who went to Lane Community College with her in the 1990s, said Blaylock has worked as a respiratory therapist at St. Charles Medical Center for the past 18 years.

Moore said Blaylock has been married to her husband Steve Blaylock for 15 months, a wedding that took place after a two-month courtship.
