A Portland man crashed head on into another driver in Troutdale while drunk last week, killing the other motorist and injuring himself and his two passengers, according to court documents.

The two-car collision Wednesday evening south of the Sandy River required firefighters to cut Emma Quinn out of her car, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said. Quinn, 33, from Missouri died at the scene.

Witnesses told deputies the other driver, Edward Johnson, was speeding through a curve near Southeast Kerslake Road and Stark Street when he crashed into Quinn, a probable cause affidavit said. Both of his passengers sustained bruising, and one had a broken collarbone. Johnson, 33, and his two passengers were taken to a hospital.

The extent of Johnson’s injuries weren’t clear in the court documents. All three people are expected to survive.

Johnson’s blood alcohol content was .21%, nearly three times the legal limit, the sheriff’s office said.

Johnson was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on Friday. He remains held Monday on suspicion of second-degree manslaughter, driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless endangering and reckless driving. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in court Monday afternoon.
