Police said "a large group of people” had gathered at the beach and that a fight had occurred. Someone fired a gun during the fight and hit the man who was killed, according to police.

The shooting is under investigation, police said early Thursday. Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office will determine the man’s cause and manner of death and confirm his identity.
