TriMet service suspended, freeway ramps closed in downtown Portland

Transportation links to downtown Portland were being shut down Sunday ahead of an expected third night of protests.

TriMet said it had MAX trains and buses will stop serving Downtown Portland starting at 3:30 p.m. “based on guidance from Portland Police.”

Meanwhile, the Oregon Department of Transportation was shutting down freeway ramps into and out of the central city due to police activity. The agency confirmed Sunday it had closed the ramps at the request of Portland Police and that it anticipated the ramps would remain closed until midnight.

The Portland Streetcar said earlier it would suspend service before 8 p.m.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler has imposed a second night of curfew Sunday beginning at 8 p.m. and running through 6 a.m. Monday. Only essential travel is permitted.
