For fast-rising 247Sports three-star running back Trey Benson, the announcement began with an innocuous yellow letter "A" as the backdrop for an edit from his recent official visit to the Oregon Ducks.
By the time he completed his six-tweet series, the 6-foot, 209-pound ball-carrier, out of Greenville, Mississippi, had built up plenty of anticipation.

But was it a commitment?
Oregon fans got their answer with the seventh and final installment, as Benson chose the Ducks over fellow finalists Florida State, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, Penn State and Vanderbilt:

For Benson, the official visit to Oregon wasn’t entirely a formality, but even before the trip he was extremely high on the Ducks.
“My relationship with the Oregon coaches is 10 of 10,” he said. “(I) talk to 'em everyday. (Cristobal) is one of the most genuine coaches ever."
Shortly after his official visit this week, Benson reiterated those sentiments.
“Man, it’s a family (feeling)...” he said. “I’m comfortable.”
As a sophomore and junior, Benson posted consecutive 1,800-yard, 22-plus touchdown seasons, displaying a level of productive that piqued the interest of programs around the country.
But it wasn’t until this offseason that his stock truly soared.
At The Opening New Orleans regional, the big-bodied back earned the running back MVP award and clocked a stunning 4.49 laser-timed 40-yard dash.
Benson joins Oregon’s 2020 recruiting class as the 11th commitment and fifth on the offensive side of the ball, joining Jay Butterfield, the nation’s No. 2 pro-style quarterback, four-star wide receiver Kris Hutson, three-star tight end Seth Figgins and three-star offensive lineman Faaope Laloulu.
Analysis
Benson has been one of Oregon’s top targets all spring, and his commitment no doubt will warrant much more excitement among the coaching staff than his three-star status would indicate.
Based on his recent buzz, it seems inevitable that Benson will earn a fourth star on Rivals and 247Sports.
His recruitment has taken on a similar feel to that of class of 2016 wide receiver Dillon Mitchell, a highly-productive three-star prospect from the South whose stock exploded late and catapulted him into the top-100 on Rivals.
Benson could be in line for a similar jump.
In need of a workhorse running back for the future who blends size and speed, he’s the perfect fit in Eugene behind a mammoth offensive line.
Really nice get for Oregon. 1 of the top athletes at the RB position in the country. Will have a shot to rise in 247 rankings. https://t.co/w1XrTiSqWx

Junior Year Film
There’s a lot to like on his film. Some speedy guys just want to bounce everything outside, but he’s got good vision between the tackles - sees a hole, plants and explodes - bounces off defenders and runs through arm tackles and shows breakaway speed.
He looks like a complete ball-carrier with a high ceiling.
