Cravon Gillespie, Jessica Hull and Chaquinn Cook received top awards as the University of Oregon track & field and cross country program closed the books on 2018-19 Friday with a celebration at the UO’s Erb Memorial Union.

Gillespie won the George Scharpf Award as outstanding male track and field athlete. Hull was honored was honored with Tom Heinonen Award as outstanding female performer in cross country, and shared the Lynne Winbigler Performer of the Year award with Cook as top female track and field athlete.

The Ducks wasn’t quite up to overall standards set in recent seasons, but probably better than anyone had a right to expect given offseason turnover on the coaching staff and the defection of some top-level athletes.

In all, it speaks to the strength of coach Robert Johnson’s program.

The UO women received the USTFCCCA award for program of the year for the 10th time in 11 season. The UO men finished fourth in the standings for men’s program of the year.
