These are median prices for roundtrip flights searched between June 1 and Sept. 4 for travel dates between Sept. 6 and Nov. 22. All flights originate at PDX.

The average high temperature in Palm Springs in October is 91 degrees -- warm enough to jump into a pool and not so hot that you can’t stand to be outside. Double win!

By October, Phoenix will be a cool 89 degrees on average, meaning it’s a nice time of year to get outside and enjoy hikes and gardens.
6. Santa Ana, California, $216
Why not take a trip to Orange County this fall? The weather is usually nice -- in the 80s -- and this airport is 20 minutes away from Disneyland. With traffic.
5. Salt Lake City, $206
