It’s going to feel a lot more like May in Portland on Mother’s Day. But for now, the region has one more summerlike afternoon before things cool down by about 10 degrees.
The National Weather Service forecasts a high of 86 degrees Saturday with clear skies and a southwest wind of 5 mph. That’s only a few degrees cooler than Friday’s high, which at 89 broke a record for the region.
Overnight lows should linger in the mid-50s with clear skies and a north wind of between 5 and 9 degrees.
Then things cool down considerably. But it’ll still be comfortable enough to treat mom to a patio brunch. (Speaking of which, have you made your reservations yet? Might want to get on that.)
Sunday will top out at 77 degrees, the weather service says, with a low of 51. The downward trend will continue throughout the week, with highs hovering in the low 70s to upper 60s.
Rain won’t arrive in the Portland metro area until Tuesday morning, which will arrive with a 30% chance of showers.
The cooldown has already begun on the coast, which saw temperatures in the 80s in the latter part of the week. Astoria is expected to top out at 60 degrees, the weather service says, with a low of 50 and clouds moving in late in the day.
