Enjoy some breaks from the rain Friday, with sun peeking through the clouds between light showers.
But don’t get used to it, because more persistent rain returns Friday night. Clouds increase by evening, and more persistent rain will kick up again overnight into Saturday. Portland’s high Friday will be a mild 53.
Some areas started the day even warmer than that with metro stations near Oregon City and Milwaukie reporting temps in the mid 50s at 5 a.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch through 2 p.m. Friday at the Oregon coast. Read more about that here:
The next system will spread rain back into northwest Oregon with the strongest showers Saturday morning. By the afternoon, showers will have tapered off to mostly cloudy skies. The high temperature will reach 53 degrees.
The snow levels remain high, running from 6,000-7,000 feet through the first part of the weekend. Conditions will be windy at the resort locations and unseasonably warm.
A new wet and windy system arrives later Saturday night. Sunday morning will have showers likely and wind gusts of up to 30 mph in the valleys. The tail end of the weekend will be cloudy with a high of 52. Snow levels drop a little to 4,500 feet, but snowfall will be light enough to keep any accumulations low at the pass levels.
Looking ahead to next week, the forecasts generally agree on rain, and more rain.
