A strong band of moisture from the subtropics will bring nothing but rain Wednesday to Portland.
The system will travel northeast through the metro area and end up in northern Washington by evening. Portland is expected to be wet all day with a high of 50, a few degrees above average.
Snow levels will rise from about 4,000 feet in the morning to 5,500 by afternoon. No snow is expected on the northwest Oregon mountain passes after Wednesday morning until the end of the week.
Breaks in the rain are unlikely through the evening, and Thursday will be soggy, too, as bands of precipitation travel through the metro area through the end of the week. The high will be 54.
Forecasters with the National Weather Service say localized flooding is possible, but heavy rain won’t stay in any one area for long.
Showers follow the cold front that moves out Thursday night. Friday will feature rain showers throughout the day and a high of 55, seven degrees warmer than the average high for the date.
And if you were wondering about a break for the weekend – unlikely. Rain is forecast through Sunday.
The Oregon coast experienced a small tornado Tuesday morning. Read more about that here:
