A COUNCIL cabinet will meet for the first time since it published a controversial local plan outlining the locations of thousands of new homes.

South Oxfordshire District Council leaders will discuss the draft document at the meeting in Didcot Civic Hall from 6pm.

The publication of the long-awaited plan earlier this month shocked many when it listed sites including Grenoble Road, Culham and Chalgrove airport as sites where homes could be built before 2034.

Councillors will now discuss the next stages of getting the plan approved including consultation events for the public to give their feedback which are due to take place early next year.
