A MAN has been arrested after threats were made to volunteers at a food bank.
Philip Knowles, 54, of Sherwood Avenue, Abingdon, has been charged with religiously aggravated public order offences after he was arrested on Friday.
It relates to an incident on Friday when a man entered Christchurch in Northcourt Road, Abingdon, making threats to the volunteers who run the food bank there.
Knowles appeared before Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, where he was remanded in custody to re-appear at the same court on Thursday.
He has been charged with one count of racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment/alarm/distress by words or writing and one count of using threatening/abusive/insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
