POLICE have enlisted the public to help solve a series of crimes across Oxfordshire.

Witness appeals issued this week cover concerning incidents including rape and an attempted stabbing.

Anyone with any information about any of the below can call police on 101 or file a report via the Thames Valley Police website.

1 - Teenager raped in park

A GIRL aged 17 was raped in a North Oxfordshire park on Monday night.

The victim had met her attacker, whom she did not know, at around 8pm on Bridge Street in Banbury.

At around 10pm the pair were together in Moorfield Park when the boy grabbed her and subsequently raped her before the victim was able to push him away.

The boy is described as white, aged approximately 17 years old with tanned skin. He was wearing baggy clothing and a black top.

2 - Knife pulled at restaurant

A knife was pulled on a staff member at Frankie & Benny’s near the Kassam Stadium.

Thames Valley Police released CCTV images of a man that officers would like to speak to as they investigate the case of attempted grievous bodily harm, which happened in November.

The force said a staff member was assaulted and one of the group drew a knife and attempted to stab the person before the group fled in a vehicle.

3 - Suspected arson

A suspected arson attack took place in Bicester last Saturday morning [March 30].

Police are appealing for information after a skip was set on fire in a front garden on Orchard Way at about 8.45am.

Officers also want anyone with CCTV in the area to come forward.

4 - Diesel thieves strike

Police are appealing for information after a large amount of red diesel was stolen in two separate incidents near Bicester last week.

The first business was targeted in Station Road, Launton overnight on Tuesday, while the second was in Circular Road, Ambrosden overnight on Thursday.

5 - Trees set on fire

A group of youngsters have been setting fire to trees in Witney, according to police.

Police and firefighters have issued an appeal after attending the wooded area off Eddington Square ‘on several occasions’.

They say the young men have been building dens and setting fire to logs and trees.

6 - Windows smashed

A man smashed an estate agent's window in Abingdon then made off in a taxi, police said.

The force released a blurry image of a man they would like to speak to following the criminal damage on Sunday, March 24 - view the picture here. 

It took place at around 1am, on Bath Street.

Investigating officer, PC Alasdair Uren, said: “We are releasing CCTV of a man who we believe may have vital information that could assist us in our enquiries.”

7 - Burglars take cash

Burglars broke into a home in south Oxford and stole cash, electrical items and Xbox games.

Thames Valley Police said the break-in happened in Gordon Street, Hinksey Park, between 10am and 4.45pm last Sunday [March 31].

The raiders forced open a back door and then searched the shared house.

8 - Elderly man targeted in distraction theft

A man in his 80s was targeted by two women who stole money from him outside a Bicester bank.

Police said the elderly victim was distracted by the women after withdrawing money from NatWest Bank on Manorsfield Road, on March 25.

9 - Car part thefts

A spate of catalytic converter thefts in Oxford has prompted a warning to motorists from police.

Motorists have reported 22 of the thefts from vehicles parked in residential streets around Oxford between Friday, March 8, and Wednesday, April 3.

The force said the parts were stripped from vehicles overnight.

Catalytic converters contain small amounts of the precious metals platinum, palladium and rhodium which can be sold at high prices.

10 - Surgery burgled

A man was arrested after a GP surgery was broken into early on Friday.

Burglars targeted Montgomery House Surgery in Piggy Lane, Bicester, but the police did not say if anything was stolen.
