Ever wondered where crimes are being committed near you and if they are being solved?

Last month, we brought you the full list of crimes committed in the Oxford policing area, street by street, for last year.

And for our latest delve into Thames Valley Police figures, we are bringing you a map of EVERY crime reported since the start of the year.

TVP has published figures for January to March only, and the map below shows the location of every crime reported, what category of crime it was, and the status of the investigation.

How many crimes were there and what kind?

From January to March, there were 3938 crimes logged by officers.

Here’s how the numbers break down by crime type:

The most commonly reported crime type is ‘violence and sexual offences' at 993, followed by anti-social behaviour and ‘other’ theft.

Where did the crimes happen?

The most common location for crimes committed were supermarkets, where 207 crimes were reported. 7 of these were for shoplifting, and 27 of them for violence.

Next was shoppping areas, where 167 offences were recorded – 67 of them shoplifting.

There were also 117 offences reported at sports or recreation grounds.

The road with the single most crimes logged against it is Cowley Road, with 58 between January and March. 19 of these were violent or sexual crimes.

It is worth noting that crimes are logged in general areas - therefore if a crime is 'on or near' a shopping centre, it did not necessarily take place inside.
