WILL Heywood’s double helped Oxford OBU earn a 5-2 win in their derby with Oxford Hawks 2nd.

The result kept the home side second in MBBO Regional Division 1, two places ahead of Hawks.

Zum Akhter, Matt McKeown and Worcester Bowden also netted, while Hawks responded through Sam Windsor Lewis and Freddie Smith.

Struggling Wallingford’s meeting with third-placed PHC Chiswick went to form as they went down to a 3-1 defeat at home, Rich Hawson scoring their consolation.

Witney hit back from two goals down to draw 3-3 at home to Marlow.

A good performance was undermined by some poor defending, which saw them trail 3-1 at the break.

Tim Chilvers had scored in the first half and further efforts from Ben Moss and Bobby Manson earned a point.

Witney’s ladies found South League Division 1 high-fliers Basingstoke too strong as they went down to a 4-2 away defeat.

A strong start from the visitors was rewarded when Katie Oliver opened the scoring.

They had chances to stretch the lead, but Basingstoke levelled from a penalty corner on the stroke of half-time.

The hosts opened up a 4-1 lead, before Abi Flory’s late penalty flick.

Ruth Bedford’s brace was key in helping Oxford to only their second Division 2 victory of the season.

Floor Timmer also netted in the 3-0 win at Havant.

Claudia Oosterveld and Philippa Morris hit doubles as Wallingford won 4-2 at Sonning in Trysports Three Counties League Premier 1.
