RIVER VALLEY, Ark. (KNWA) – Over the past few weeks, the 12th / 21st District Drug Task Force (DTF) partnered with the Arkansas State Police and arrested 16 individuals allegedly transporting drugs through the area to other parts of the United States.

Police intercepted 1 kilogram of cocaine, over 200 pounds of marijuana, 19 pounds of methamphetamine, totaling $650,000 worth of illegal drugs, according to the task force.

The DTF works with all area law enforcement agencies in an effort to reduce or eradicate drug trafficking in local communities.

This task force is a combination of investigators from the Greenwood and Fort Smith Police Departments, Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office, 12th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the 21st Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

“Approximately 11.7 million Americans–ages 12 and older–reported trying methamphetamine at least once,” according to the 2004 National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
