SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– By now, you’ve likely seen at least one of the many statues strategically placed in downtown Springfield. But if you haven’t seen them already, you might not get a chance to.

Right now many of the long-standing statues (above) are being uprooted, making room for new installments at Springfield Sculpture Walk’s outdoor museum of sorts.

New statues will soon take their place. Those new installments could come from anywhere in the world, but right now Sculpture Walk says it’s only fielded offers from American artists.

Four years ago when Springfield Sculpture Walk was founded, there were 14 pieces installed downtown. By the end of the week, there will be 31.
