Harrisburg police investigating hit-and-run crash caused by wrong-way driver

Several people were taken to the hospital Wednesday after a driver in Harrisburg went the wrong way down Green Street, struck another car and fled on foot, police said.

A driver and two passengers were headed north on Green Street around 1 p.m. against the street’s one-way traffic pattern, according to Sgt. Kyle Gautsch. The driver hit the side of another vehicle at the Verbeke Street intersection, then hopped out of the car and ran away, police said.

The passengers of the vehicle that caused the hit-and-run were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The other driver was taken for evaluation, according to police.

Both vehicles were significantly damaged in the crash, Gautsch said.

No charges have been filed. Harrisburg police are investigating.
