All things fly fishing will be demonstrated, exhibited, discussed and offered for hands-on tryouts in the Pennsylvania Fly Fishing & Film Festival from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at the Carlisle Expo Center, Carlisle.
Fly tying, fly fishing casting technique and stream craft programs will be presented by top name in the fly-fishing world, like Ed Jaworowsky, Joe Jackson, Rick Nyles, Don Baylor and others, throughout the day in 2 presentation rooms.
One-on-one fly-casting instruction will also be available.
The head coach and members of the USA Youth Fly Fishing Team will be on hand at the festival, displaying the gear they use when competing in the world championships.
Members of the Chesapeake Council of Fly Fishers International will run a fly-fishing merit badge program for Scouts throughout the day. Skills shared will be fly tying, fly casting and know marking.
Amidea Daniel, coordinator of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s Youth and Women’s Program, and John Arway, former executive director of the commission, will present an introduction to fly fishing program for Scouts and other beginners.
The Pennsylvania Bluebird Society and the Purple Martin Conservation Association will share insights into their respective insect-eating species and how homeowners can attract them to their properties to take advantage of their abilities in destroying insects.
The festival is presented by the Pennsylvania Fly Fishing Association.
Admission is $10 per person, but Scouts and Scout leaders in uniform, along with one parent, youth under age 15, and members of the PFFA, will be admitted free.
