It’s not every day you get to hear a musical genius.

Midori Goto is regarded as one of the best violinists in the world and on Sept. 20, she’ll be performing in Harrisburg’s Market Square Presbyterian Church as part of Market Square Concerts.

The performance will begin at 8 p.m. and will also feature Lithuanian pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute. Together, Jokubaviciute and Midori will be playing music by Johannes Brahms and Gabriel Faure.

Tickets for the concert are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors and $5 for college students. It is free for grade school students (who can have a sibling or parent join them for only $10). You can purchase tickets and learn more at marketsquareconcerts.org. You can also buy tickets by calling 717-221-9599. Tickets may also be available at the door.

The concert is part of Midori’s own foundation’s goal to promote high quality performing arts in smaller communities.

Midori has been performing as a concert violinist for more than 30 years, playing along with some of the world’s top orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Midori’s performance will double as the opening for Market Square Concerts’ 2019-2020 season. The season continues at 8 p.m. Nov. 9 with a concert by the Schumann Quartet. Other concerts include Third Coast Percussion on Jan. 15 at Whitaker Center’s Sunoco Performance Theater (222 Market St., Harrisburg), cellist Andrei Ionita on Feb. 12 at Temple Ohev Sholom (2345 N. Front St., Harrisburg), Polonsky-Shifrin-Wiley Trio on March 21 and Stuart Malina and Friends on April 26. All concerts are at Market Square Presbyterian Church (20 S. 2nd St., Harrisburg) unless otherwise noted. Season subscriptions are currently available and start at $150.
