Harrisburg man accused of robbing four Cumberland County banks

A Harrisburg man was indicted Wednesday by a federal grad jury on accusations that he robbed four Cumberland County banks since February.

That’s according to a news release from U.S. Attorney David J. Freed of the Middle District of Pennsylvania, who announced that Aaron Johnson, 29, of Harrisburg had been indicted on charges of armed bank robbery.

According to Freed, Johnson is accused of four armed robberies between February and September. The reported robberies occurred at these locations:

  • A AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union on Feb. 15
  • A Centric Bank on July 12
  • A BB&T Bank on July 31
  • A PNC Bank on August 19

The robberies were investigated by the FBI, as well as police agencies in Lower Allen, East Pennsboro and Hampden townships and Camp Hill Borough.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Johnny Baer will prosecute the case, according to the release.

If found guilty, Johnson could face a maximum of 100 years in prison, the release said.
