Police swarmed a section of Harrisburg Monday night after a shooting, police confirmed at the scene.
There were no injuries, but officers were seen searching for and collecting evidence from different sections of 17th Street between State and Liberty streets.
The St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church Of Harrisburg was closed off by police, and officers could be seen talking with church officials as other investigators searched the grounds outside.
At the intersection of Liberty and 17th streets, a K9 unit was brought to investigate the intersection.
Officers dug into multiple trees between Liberty and State streets on 17th street, pulling evidence out of the bark.
Down the block, five law enforcement vehicles were gathered at the City Gas on 17th Street for about 30 minutes.
An officer at the scene said no further information would be released as the investigation was still active.
Neighbors in the area heard what sounded like loud gunshots around 8 p.m., but those gathered at the scene didn’t see the shooting.
The shooting took place within a block of the Harrisburg School District building, a charter school, a daycare and several other churches.
More information will be posted as it is released.
