Harrisburg police called to shooting scene

Harrisburg police roped off Jefferson Street Sunday afternoon after someone was shot.

Police did not release any information at the scene regarding what happened, including the age, gender or extent of injuries of the victim.

Dispatchers sent officers to the scene shortly after 1 p.m. after someone reported shots fired and a person down in the 2100 block of Jefferson Street.

Officers arrived and roped off the suspected crime scene on Jefferson from Forest Street to Maclay Street. They placed at least 18 evidence markers in the street.

The incident occurred near a memorial for a homicide victim, Michael Evans-Turner, who was shot to death Feb. 25, 2019 on the same block. Evans-Turner would have turned 37 on Saturday, Aug. 1, and balloons were place at the memorial with the number 37.

Police collected evidence and then cleared the scene about 2:10 p.m.
