Dolores C. Messersmith, 86, of Mt. Pleasant Mills died Friday, July 5, 2019, at UPMC Pinnacle Community Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.

She was born Oct. 22, 1932, at home in Leitersburg, Md., to Arthur J. and Edith M. (Kline) Mohn.

She retired from Petry’s Auto-parts, Leymone; was a graduate of Hagerstown High School, Md.; Past Royal Matron and Past Royal Patron in the Order of the Amaranth, Willard Waterman Court, Mechanicsburg, Past Worthy High Priestess and Past Watchman of Shepherds in the Order of the White Shrine 7, Harrisburg, Past High Priestess of Ladies Oriental Shrine 29, Harrisburg, member of the Order of Eastern Star, New Bloomfield, Daughters of the Nile, Mechanicsburg, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Newport, and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 925, Millerstown; enjoyed sewing, ceramics and traveling; and volunteered for Bread of Life Outreach.

She was the widow of James W. Messersmith.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Vivian Guessford of Shemans Dale; a daughter, Diane L. Schubert of Newport; a granddaughter, Melanie Schubert; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Wendy Mohn of Waynesboro; and two nephews, Todd and Mark Mohn.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Walter Schubert.

A service was held July 10 in George P. Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. Gary Bellis officiating. Burial was in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, Md.

Heather Theresa (Fife) Campbell died Thursday, July 4, 2019.

She was born Jan. 16, 1974, in Northhampton, Mass., to Rev. David and Patricia (Madgett) Fife.

She was the beloved wife of James Leroy Campbell III of New Bloomfield; loving mother of Savanah Rain Klunder, along with her husband Jeff of New Bloomfield, and Anthony Scola of Gloucester Mass.; doting grandmother, better known as “Nammy,” of Adalyn Jade Klunder (age 4) and Waylon Reid Klunder (age 1).

Also surviving are parents, David and Patricia Fife of West Melbourne Fla.; and two elder brothers, Stewart Fife and his wife Heather of Seabrook Island, S.C., and Christopher Fife and his wife Michelle of Winslow, Maine.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, in the Family Life Center, West Shortcut Road, Newport. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.

Shirley A. Mullen, 84, of Duncannon died Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at West Shore Hospital.

She was born Aug. 29, 1934, in Liverpool to Charles and Helen (Myers) Cohick.

She was a former member of Logania Church of God.

She was the widow of Robert Mullen.

Surviving are a sister, Patricia Rode of Millerstown, and a brother, Gene Cohick of Newport.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Eddie Cohick.

A service was held July 8 in David Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Cheryl Dorman officiating. Burial was in Snyder’s Cemetery, New Bloomfield.

DAVID D. ANSPACH

David D. Anspach, 87, of Duncannon and formerly of New Cumberland, died Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Kinkora Pythian Home, Penn Twp.

He was born Dec. 6, 1931, in Harrisburg to Girbirt and Ruth (Hoehnes) Anspach.

He retired as a machinist for Kinney Shoes, Shiremanstown; was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War; a member of Community United Methodist Church, New Cumberland, Steelton-Swatara Lodge 775 F&AM; Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg, and a former president of the Mini Car Unit, and former commander of Pilgrim Commandry, Chapter 11; and an avid car enthusiast.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Mary L. (Sharretts) Anspach; a sister, Mary Herrider (Stuart) of Dillsburg; and three nephews, Thomas P. Sharretts (Mary Jo), Ben A. Anspach, both of Enola, and Timothy Waggner of West Virginia.

A service was held July 10 in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery (Peace Church), Hampden Twp.

Ronald M. Campbell, 79, died Sunday, July 7, 2019, at his home in Newport.

He was born Nov. 30, 1939 in Newport to Melvin and Belle Campbell.

He was retired from the Army after 22 years of service and was a member of Newport American Legion and VFW, Millerstown Moose and Perry County Old Iron Club.

He was the widower of Joyce Campbell, to whom he was was married 32 years.

Surviving are three sons, Ronald Campbell of Texas, and Jerry Campbell and Craig Campbell of Florida; two daughters, Judi Fasick and Karen Shull of Newport; a sister, Mildred Campbell; and eight grandchildren, Addison, Brock, Carolyn, Kaitlin, Caleb, Kathi, Nathan and Justin.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Pike; a brother, Darwin; a sister, Reba Campbell; and a grandson, Jared.

A graveside service was held July 11 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Nancy E. Boyer, 92, formerly of Duncannon, died Monday, July 8, 2019, at Arden Courts of Susquehanna, Harrisburg.

She was born March 30, 1927, in Duncannon to William Clair and Mildred (Sullenberger) Lukens.

Prior to retiring, she was employed as a psychiatric nurse at Harrisburg State Hospital; and was blessed with a gentle nature, enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting.

She was the widow of Kenneth C. “Pineapple” Boyer, who died Jan. 3, 1999.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan P. (Paul) Battistoni of Pocomoke, Md.; a son, Kenneth B. (Sydna “Penny”) of Palmyra; two granddaughters, Denise Bragg and Ashley Noll; and four great-grandchildren, Nicholas A. and Elena S. Bragg, and Tyler R. and Drew D. Noll.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, April Dianne Boyer on Sept. 20, 1947; four sisters, Patricia Ison, Mildred Graybill, Beverly Ryan and Priscilla Lukens; and four brothers, David, John, Henry and William Lukens.

A service was held July 16 in Ronald C.L. Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon. Burial was in Duncannon Cemetery.

Edith Naomi Rudy Beasom, 92, of Mechanicsburg died Monday, July 8, 2019, at home.

She was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Harrisburg to Arthur and Mary (Hoffman) Buck.

She was a graduate of Lemoyne High School and went on to receive a LPN certification from Harrisburg School of Nursing. She was a LPN for Holy Spirit Hospital for more than 10 years; a member of Millerstown United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, and participated in various missions; and volunteered for the senior center, Meals on Wheels, and the Head Start program.

She was the widow of Harold G. Rudy Jr. and Leonard K. Beasom.

Surviving are four daughters, Beverly A. Keith (Don) of Canon City, Colo., Karen L. Lockard (Jack) of Mechanicsburg, Catherine E. Bankes of Mechanicsburg and Bonnie J. Shelleman (Rod) of Mechanicsburg; a son, George E. Rudy (Lisa) of Newport; two stepsons, Leonard Beasom (Ann) of Mechanicsburg and David Beasom (Eileen) of Middletown; a brother, Arthur Buck (Ann) of San Diego, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; and 32 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Anthony Bankes; five sisters, Esther, Martha and Catherine Buck, Clara McCoig and Marion Beasom; and a brother, Lawrence Buck.

A service was held July 12 in her church with pastor Fred Rudy officiating. Burial was in Paxtang Cemetery, Harrisburg.

Winnifred June “Winnie” Flickinger, 88, of Loysville died Monday, July 8, 2019, at home.

She was born April 1, 1931, in Ickesburg to Clarence W. and Kathyrn (Stewart) Rice.

She was retired from Properity Enterprises in Blain, and also worked at C.H. Masland & Sons, Goodyear Air Core Corp. and Kathette Manufacturing Company of New Bloomfield; and a member of Landisburg Fire Company and Landisburg Ambulance Club.

She was the widow of David S. “Flick” Flickinger, who died Sept. 15, 1985, and whom she married Nov. 15, 1952.

Surviving are a brother, Fred Rice and wife Lucy of Ickesburg; a sister, Bonnie Benner of Duncannon; two daughters, Vicki (Flickinger) Sweger of Loysville and Sandra Flickinger of Loysville; a son, Perry S. Flickinger of Loysville; a granddaughter, Kayla M. Flickinger; a stepgrandson, Jason Sabo and wife Tia Sabo of Texas; a great-grandchild, Chloe Sabo of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Calvin E., Donald, Jack, Larry, Steven and Dean Rice; and three sisters, Anna Ruth Peterson, Mary Bernhisel and Margaret Reisinger.

A service was held July 12 in Faith United Church, Ickesburg, with the Rev. Elaine Moyer officiating. Interment was in Blain Cemetery.

Lee F. Peters, 96, of Newport died Sunday, July 7, 2019, at UPMC Pinnnacle Harrisburg Hospital.

He was born April 27, 1923, in Watts Twp. to William C. and Nettie S. (Lowe) Peters.

He was a masonry and brick layer, working for various businesses including his brother, Stanley L. Peters, and retiring from his nephew’s, R.A. Barrick in Marysville, and was engaged in farming all his life; and enjoyed hunting.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Pearl C. (Kumler) Peters; five children, Dean and Crystal Peters, Mark and Nancy Peters, Robin and Tom Bookas, David Peters and his companion Kathy Ryan, and Elizabeth and Robert Derr, all of Newport; 10 grandchildren, Jacinda, Chelsea, Warren, Jennifer, Jason, Jamie, Jeremy, Justin, Julie and Christine; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Ian and Janet Peters of Duncannon; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Rodgers; and eight brothers and sisters, Bertha, Sylvia, Mary, Stanley, Florence, Dewey, Wilma and Hattie.

Melvin D. Crull, 89, died Thursday, July 4, 2019.

He was born March 13, 1930, in Landisburg to Arthur L. and Sarah Ellen (Rhule) Crull.

He spent his life in the Landisburg area.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister.

A graveside service was held July 12 in Landisburg Cemetery with pastor Dennis Bailey Jr. officiating.

Elizabeth L. “Betty” Phillips, 94, of Marysville died Sunday, July 7, 2019, in Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.

She was born Nov. 26, 1924, in Plainfield, N.J., to John L. and Emma C. (King) Moyer.

She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for more than 50 years, member of American Legion Auxiliary, Duncannon, Golden Age Club of Marysville and Pythian Sisters of the Knights of Pythias; and an excellent cook and was know for her delicious cookies and pies.

Surviving are her husband, D.K. Phillips; three children, Donna Kennedy Douglas, wife of Ruford Douglas, Marysville, Patsy A. Kisner, widow of John Kisner Sr., Duncannon, and Andrew L. Dorman, widower of Barbara Dorman, Marysville; four stepchildren, Mary E. Miskovish of Donegal, Pa., Dwight K. Phillips of Nemacolin, Pa., and William T. Phillips and Robert L. Phillips, both of Carmichaels, Pa.; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Dorman; three sisters, Emma Maude Kenee, Catherine Carnahan and Doris W. Snyder; her first husband, Grover C. Dorman; and a son-in-law, Ronald A. Kennedy.

A service was held July 13 in her church with pastor Douglas M. Eberly officiating. Burial was in Perry Heights Cemetery, Marysville.

He was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Newport to William and Elizabeth (Klinger) Arnold.

He was retired from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Surviving are two brothers, James and Larry Arnold, and two sisters, Margaret Morrison and Mary Stoner.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Arnold.

Vickey L. Snook, 47, of McClure died Friday, July 5, 2019, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and George.

She was born Dec. 18, 1971, in Harrisburg to Maynard Sr. and Linda (Willi) Shope of Liverpool.

She was employed at the Family Dollar store, Middleburg, and formerly at the Public Defenders Office, Lewistown; a 1989 graduate of East Juniata High School; and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, surviving are her husband, Mark L. Snook; two children, Kevin and Chelsea Soder of Maryland and Katelyn Soder of Newport; a stepdaughter, Angela and John Hammock of New Jersey; a grandson, Graycen Soder; a granddaughter, Lia Zinn; three sisters and a brother, Sandy and Aaron Adams, Maynard Jr. and Melanie Shope, Natalie and Cyrus Shunk, and Stephanie and George Moore; nieces and nephews; maternal grandmother, Gladys Willi; and father-in-law, John D. Snook.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Shope.

She was born Nov. 19, 1920, in Donnelly Mills to Jay Bitner and Lucy (Spriggle) Reisinger.

She worked in the cafeteria at Greenwood School District and for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Revenue and Motor Vehicle Division; was a 1938 graduate of Millerstown High School; a member of Millerstown Civic Club and Millerstown United Methodist Church; and enjoyed reading.

She was the widow of Paul G. Shipe.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jeanne Shipe of Marietta, Ga., and a son and daughter-in-law, John Jay and Sally Shipe of Newport.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Reisinger, and two sisters, Jeanette Hauber and Kathryn Garvin.

A graveside service was held in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown, with the Rev. Jean Felty officiating.
