Harrisburg Senators week in review: 6 straight wins keep team on top of Eastern League standings

The Harrisburg Senators’ hot start has continued into the first 17 games of the season.

A six-game win streak of late has raised the record of manager Matt LeCroy’s team to an astounding 15-2 mark to kick off the Double-A season.

Over the past week, the Senators won their final two games of a three-game series with the Altoona Curve, won two games against the Hartford Yard Goats (one game was postponed until May 26th), and then later won the first of another three-game series against the Curve.

The Senators sit atop the Eastern League Western standings. The Erie Seawolves are 5.5 games back and the third place Curve are seven games back. Harrisburg is still first among the entire league, while the Trenton Thunder top the EL’s Eastern division with a 10-4 mark.

Catcher Tres Barrera has seen his batting average drop some over the last few games, but he’s still swinging a hot stick and leads the team at .400. Right fielder Rhett Wiseman leads the team in homers with eight, is second in average (.370), and is tied for first in RBIs with first baseman Drew Ward, as both have 17.

Harrisburg also holds the second best team batting average in the league at .247. They have the most home runs with 22, second most RBIs with 69, and most runs scored with 72.

Jordan Mills has pitched 6.1 innings, Jacob Condra-Bogan 6.0, and Dakota Bacus 1.0. All three hold a team-best 0.00 ERA.

Wil Crowe continues to be phenomenal with a 1.17 ERA, 21 strikeouts, .78 WHIP, while only allowing three runs over four starts, holding a 2-0 record. The Senators pitchers have pitched the most innings in the league at 151 while allowing the fewest runs (42), fewest earned runs (36), lowest ERA (2.14), and tied for fifth most batters struck out (145).

The Senators will finish up their three-game series with against the Altoona Curve today, April 23rd and tomorrow April 24th.

Harrisburg will then go on to play the Yard Goats at Hartford from April 25th to the 28th. They will finish off the month with the first two games of a three-game series against the Reading Phillies in Reading April 29th and 30th, finishing May 1st.
