Peterborough McDonald’s litter ‘disgusting and unacceptable’

There have been calls for McDonald’s to take action after piles of empty fast food packaging were left near a nature reserve.

The rubbish was left at the entrance of the Eye Nature Reserve over the weekend, with burger boxes and paper cups strewn across the pavement.

Peterborough hit the headlines last week after six McDonald’s drive-thrus opened - including one at the Eye Roundabout.

Today Eye, Thorney and Newborough ward councillor Steve Allen called for McDonald’s and their customers to stop this happening in the future.

He said; “This is disgusting, and not acceptable.

“It was over the bank holiday weekend, when staff would not have been on call to empty the bins. I have asked the council to clear it up, and suggested that we work with McDonald’s to stop it happening in the future.

People have to put it in their car and take it home if there are no bins near by.”

The Peterborough Telegraph has contacted McDonalds for comment.
