There are lots of orange road signs along Shore Drive warning of bumps and uneven lanes. What’s happening?

Work is underway to improve a nearly 2-mile stretch of Shore Drive, from Greenwell Road to the Lesner Bridge.

The milling, paving and pavement marking on both eastbound and westbound lanes is expected to wrap up by Sept. 20, according to a Public Works news release. The work schedule is contingent on the weather.

Crews from Virginia Paving will work each day beginning at 7 p.m. and ending at 5 a.m. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, as the project is likely to produce traffic delays, congestion and some construction noise.
