An SUV drove into the water in the Ocean Lakes area of Virginia Beach early Friday morning, and a person was found dead inside, according to police.
It happened on Bold Ruler Drive around 4:45 a.m., said police spokeswoman Linda Kuehn.
“A witness observed the vehicle traveling down Firefall (Drive) and going straight into the lake,” she said.
Police, fire boats and EMS all responded, and EMS Marine Rescue used their sonar scanner to find the SUV, she said.
Traffic on the street was closed between Davinci and Sword Dancer drives due to the incident.
Police are investigating.
