SOUTH RIVER, N.J.— A New Jersey man is charged with the attempted murder of his own mother.
Kazufumi Nakatani, 33, was arrested and charged with attempted murder in the first degree and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose Friday.
At approximately 2:38 p.m. Friday, an off-duty corrections officer came upon a woman, the apparent victim of multiple stab wounds, on the sidewalk outside her home and called police for assistance.
South River police responded and apprehended the suspect, who would not answer the door or allow police to enter the home.
During the investigation it was determined that Nakatani stabbed his 60-year-old mother multiple times in the home they share. He is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center.
