Story Homes gains approval for Cumbria homes

The housing developer’s application for 149 homes on land off Carleton Road in Penrith has been approved at Eden Council’s planning committee.

The project on the 19.3-acre site was recommended for consent ahead of the committee, and gained eight councillors’ approval, whilst three were against the scheme.

The development will have 44 affordable homes and 384 car parking spaces.

Approval was subject to a Section 106 agreement of a £600,012 primary school contribution; a £123,680 contribution towards the reconfiguration of Corney Place; a £28,828 contribution towards pedestrian facilities at the A592 roundabout Cromwell Road, and B5288 Norfolk Road; a £47,000 contribution towards local highway improvements; and a travel plan contribution of £6,000.

The architect was Design By Pod. Urban Green was the landscape architect and landscape planner.
