The air ambulance landed in Plymouth this afternoon.

Eyewitnesses spotted the chopper flying low over the Whitleigh area, and is believed to have landed in Brentford Avenue, according to a resident.

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service confirmed that the air ambulance had been called to a property.

The trust was unable to release further details because the patient was at a private address.

One resident in Brentford Avenue said: "It landed on the grassy area at the bottom end of my road.

"It shook my windows and at one point I thought it was going to land on my house.

"By the time I went outside it was just taking off again, so I never saw if anyone got into it or not."

One eyewitness said they thought they saw the chopper land near fields by Woodfield Primary School in Taunton Avenue, but staff at the school had not seen or heard the helicopter.

They said: "I saw it coming in to land from the kitchen window. I've not heard any sirens or seen anything else.

"All I heard was a helicopter flying low, saw the air ambulance getting lower and lower, so assuming it was coming in to land somewhere in Whitleigh I presume.

"From where I am it's hard to tell if it's Tamerton Foliot, but it was close so assuming it's Whitleigh."

A worker at a butchers on Whitleigh Green said they heard the helicopter flying over around 12pm, but did not see which direction it went in.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said they had not been called to any incidents in the area.
