A woman who bit a teenage boy’s leg during a sleepover while play-fighting has been ordered to do unpaid work.
Jade Coles, aged 27, latched on to the 13-year-old in what a judge called an “unpleasant” incident.
Coles, who had been drinking, also swung a blow at the boy, her trial at Plymouth Crown Court heard last month.
The defendant, who has children of her own, was found guilty of common assault carried out on April 3 last year.
Handing her a 12-month community order, Judge James Townsend said: “This was an unpleasant and pretty disgraceful incident, caused no doubt by the fact that you had too much to drink.
“You are in full-time work and no doubt a good mother.”
Coles, of Waddon Close, Plympton, was given 120 hours unpaid work and ten days of probation supervsion.
She must pay her young victim £100 compensation and £85 victim surcharge.
The trial heard that the incident happened at a house where two brothers had invited a friend over for a sleepover.
A younger child was said to have brought a pair of her father's boxing gloves to the home.
One of the boys said the defendant gave the gloves to another of the boys and invited him to fight.
Coles pulled the 13-year-old boy from the sofa, swung at him and missed so that she fell on to the floor, the court heard.
She then latched on to the boy’s leg and bit it.
Barrister William Parkhill, for Coles, told the latest hearing that the attack was not “born out of nastiness”.
He added: “This was horseplay gone far too far.”
Mr Parkhill said she had two children and worked full-time on the minimum wage. He added that she had also had to pay £5,000 in legal costs.
