A bus driver had an energy drink thrown at him after being blocked in by a BMW in Plymouth city centre.

The apparent road rage incident saw the suspect run off from Royal Parade after the car accelerated down the road to block the bus in.

Police were called at 4.40pm on Thursday and the offender remains at large.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "This incident happened on a bus on Royal Parade, Plymouth, between 4.40pm and 4.50pm.

"The driver was signalling to move lanes when a BMW car accelerated and blocked the bus.

"The car then pulled alongside the bus and someone has then thrown what is believed to be energy drink at the bus driver.

"He was not injured as it landed on his arm. The bus then blocked in the car and the offender ran from the car."

"Enquiries continue to locate the offender."

An eyewitness told Plymouth Live that officers stopped the  Plymouth Citybus  on  Royal Parade , heading outbound towards Charles Cross.

He said that a blue BMW had also stopped and it appeared that police were taking statements.
