Firefighters were called to a suspected arson attack at the back of the former Millennium nightclub in Plymouth, during the early hours of this morning.

Two crews from Greenbank Fire Station attended the blaze at around 1.10am this morning, Thursday, after flames were seen coming from the back entrance of the building on Flora Street.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed that the rubbish fire was thought to have been started deliberately near to a garage.

A dramatic video, which can be seen at the top of this article, shows a number of firefighters extinguishing the blaze.

It appeared to have been started from the burning of a number of waste items.

A spokesperson added that the fire was called in by members of the public.

Nobody was injured in the incident.
