The CEO of a Plymouth school for children who have needs outside of mainstream education has been suspended.

Sarah Gillet was previously the chief of Ace Schools Multi Academy Trust, which is based at Martins Gate, Bretonside.

One parent with a child at the school contacted Plymouth Live to say they had been sent a letter stating that Ms Gillet had been suspended.

Although Ms Gillet is no longer in the position, the Ace Plymouth website still has Ms Gillet listed as the CEO.

However the school has confirmed her suspension, adding an interim leadership team is in place.

The school's mission is to give every learner the opportunity to succeed through becoming successful learners, confident and healthy individuals and responsible citizens.

A spokesperson for the Trust said: “The Trust and its academies are in a very strong position, with both schools rated Good by Ofsted. We can confirm that the Trust is under interim leadership following the decision to suspend the chief executive pending a process.

"While that process is ongoing, we cannot comment further. The interim leadership team will ensure stability and the continued strong performance of our schools through this period for the benefit of the children and young people we are privileged to serve.”

Ms Gillet's information on the school's website states: "I originally trained as a secondary teacher of Food Technology and Textiles, identifying early on an aptitude for working with disaffected young people.
