Police are hunting a short man who punched a teenager in the face, knocking him out cold and leaving him with a fractured skull.

Investigators say a 17-year-old boy was outside the House of Fraser store in New George Street at around 9.10pm on Monday November 5 when he became embroiled in a verbal altercation with a man.

The man, described as white and around 5ft 5ins tall, punched the teen in the face, knocking him unconscious and causing him to fall back where he struck his head on the pavement. The victim was later taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment where it was discovered he had suffered fractured skull.

Police say that CCTV seized by investigators show that there were a number of people who were in the area at the time, although at this stage nobody has come forward to offer statements.
