A simple act of kindness has brought a smile to faces in Plymouth over the weekend.

This Domino's Pizza delivery worker was taking a break when he spotted an old lady struggling down into the subway beneath Exeter Street.

Taking her basket in his hands he helped her down some steps and linked her arms.

It is something that any right-minded able-bodied person would, or should, do. But the simple show of civility touched a nerve.

Georgia Rowe took to Plymouth Gossip Girls on Facebook and wrote: "This made me smile. Shout out to the guy working at Domino's on Exeter Street. You are a good person."

It shouldn't be such a big deal but with politics and social media so often dominated by division and cynicism it is heartening to see a good deed being praised. Maybe we should all try to be more like pizza delivery man.

As for the man himself, he wasn't working when Plymouth Live contacted his employers.

But his shift manager said: "Yes I had heard about it. He's a hard-working lad. Always in work early and always helping out. He's generally a nice guy."
