Police have released two men after four men were reportedly seen fleeing from a vehicle after a crash near Plymouth Railway Station.

The men, aged 29 and 32, were arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs, after a blue BMW was in collision with the central reservation on June 8 at around 6.15am.

They have now been released pending further investigation.

Two other males, who were said to have fled the scene, have not yet been located.

One lane of the road heading towards Pennycomequick Roundabout was partially blocked off with police and recovery vehicles in attendance for a large part of Saturday morning.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police were called around 6.15am on Saturday 8 June following a single vehicle collision on Saltash Road in Plymouth.

"A blue BMW was in collision with the central reservation. Four men were seen to flee the vehicle.

"A police search was launched and two men were detained in North Road West. 

"The men, aged 29 and 32, both from Plymouth, were arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs. Both men have been released under investigation pending further enquiries. "



Enquiries continue into the incident and police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the BMW travelling around the area at the time.
