A whole host of dodgy characters have appeared before Plymouth magistrates to answer for a range of crimes.

There are the usual thieves, drunks and drink-drivers.

Magistrates have also seen a beggar and a couple of vandals.

THEFT:

NATHAN BARNARD, aged 30, of Ashley Place, Stonehouse: two counts of theft of groceries and spirits from Sainsbury’s at Marsh Mills – 12-month community order with 100 hours unpaid work, ordered to pay £362 compensation and £30 victim surcharge.

NEIL TENCH, aged 35, of Cornwall Beach, Devonport: theft of £60 fragrance from TK Maxx in breach of previous conditional discharges for theft – fined £100, ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

DANIEL HAY, aged 22, of Unity Park, Efford: drink-driving – banned from driving for 17 months, fined £276, ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

BEN JEFFERY, aged 32, of Mount Gould Road, Mount Gould: drunk and disorderly – fined £80, ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

JUSTIN TOPHAM, aged 49, of Miltom Coombe, near Yelverton: drink-driving – banned from driving for 46 months, fined £120, ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

ANTHONY WESTON, aged 53, of Dunclair Park, Laira: drunk and disorderly in breach of a conditional discharge – fined £80, ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

DRUGS:

BRIAN GUNNINGHAM, aged 34, of St Leo Place, Morice Town: possession of cannabis and possession of Alprazolam in breach of a conditional charge – fined £300, ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

LYLE SHORE, aged 24, of Culverland Park, Liskeard: possession of cocaine and possession of cannabis – fined £333, ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE:

ALEXANDER MCKERNAN, aged 19, of Alma Road, Pennycomequick: two counts of causing criminal damage to furniture, possession of MDMA and possession of cannabis – 18-month community order with mental health course and Drug Rehabilitation Requirement, ordered to pay £720 compensation.

ANDREW STIDSTON, aged 33, of no fixed address, Plymouth: criminal damage to a window and a wall phone at Charles Cross police station – jailed for six weeks, ordered to pay £100 compensation.

SEAN RENNIE, aged 22, c/o The Broadway, Plymstock: two counts of placing himself in a public place to gather alms – fined £50.

RIKKI STICK, aged 23, c/o Molesworth Road, Plympton: possession of a bladed article, causing criminal damage to a door and window and two counts of possession of Class A drug morphine sulphate and one of Class C drug Zopiclone.
