The average price of a UK home has increased in price by an average of £11 a day in the first half of the year.

But Plymouth is blowing this out of the water with a massive increase of more than £13 a day.

According to new analysis from property website Zoopla, some homes in Devon are rising by up to an incredible £90 a day, while others are falling by £29 in the same 24 hours.

Overall £2,046 was added to the value of the average home in the first six months of 2019.

Plymouth's house prices aren't far behind with the average home costing £213,709 in January but in July reaching the value of £216,202, showing an increase of £13.62 a day or by £2,493 since January.

But Exmouth is the place where home prices are rocketing by more than eight times the UK average.

The average Exmouth home price is rising by an impressive £89.77 a day

The port town, civil parish and seaside resort's homes are rising by an impressive £89.77 a day.

Homes have increased on average by £16,428 since January 2019 so it will be exciting for homeowners to see what the next year will bring.

Between January and July, nearby Exeter's average house price rose from £299,692 to 306,479, adding a whopping £6,787 to its value or £37.09 per day.

Kingsbridge is the second best in terms of growth with £48.95 added to the value of homes per day or £8,958 since January, taking the price of an average home there to £422,187.

And Honiton isn't far behind with an increase in the value of homes of £26.10 per day or £4,777 since January.

However, it's not all great news. Bideford, Collumpton, Tiverton and Barnstaple homes have all lost value so far this year.

Bideford came out worst at -£28.62 per day or a total change of -£5,237 since January.

But compared to some places in other parts of the UK the picture is not too bad locally. Leatherhead in Surrey was the worst-performing town in Britain for price growth in the first half of 2019, with the average home value falling by a worrying £89.12 in value each day, and £16,309 in total.

On a regional level, the West Midlands leads the way as Britain’s best-performing region, with the average value of homes increasing by £36.58 per day, or £6,695 in total, since the start of the year.

Bideford came out worst

The worst-performing region in Britain by far was London, where the average value of all housing has fallen by £71.23 per day (£13,035 in total).

Laura Howard, spokesperson for Zoopla, said: “The UK housing market gained £60bn in value during the first six months of the year. An increase in the total value of housing was recorded across nine of the 11 regions analysed, with average property values in the West Midlands making the most for homeowners.

“At the other end of the spectrum, residential values in London have continued on the downward trajectory of the last three years. However, a patchwork of micro-markets in the capital means there are a number of neighbourhoods - from Notting Hill to Forest Hill - that are bucking the trend of price falls and registering price rises.

“Those looking to find out more about the performance of your local market, can use Zoopla’s  house price tool or speak with one of our local agents.”
