A thug faces jail after he pulled out a zombie knife at a Plymouth hotel.

Chad Pearson, aged 24, threatened violence and attacked a woman on the day he had the fearsome blade, a court heard.

He faced a judge to plead guilty to possession of a zombie knife as an offensive weapon at the Jurys Inn Hotel in Exeter Street.

Pearson, of Pembroke Dock in Wales, had the blade on July 6.

He appeared in custody at Plymouth Crown Court to plead guilty to assaulting a woman on the same day in the city.

Pearson also admitted affray, or threatening or using unlawful violence, on July 6.

He finally pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance in Carmarthenshire in Wales on July 7.

Recorder Paul Garlick adjourned sentencing until this Thursday, August 22.

Pearson was remanded into custody.

Zombie knives, knives with a cutting edge, a serrated edge and images or words suggesting it is used for violence, are banned because they have no legitimate use.

Anyone carrying one could be prosecuted for possession of an offensive weapon, as opposed to having a bladed article in public.
